Washington Butler is a Puyallup native who was awed by the arts from a young age. She participated in singing contests, performed in her high school's theatre program and sang in the choirs. After moving into Los Angeles, she studied theatre at the University of Southern California and was Belle the Princess on the stage in Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for a year and an entire quarter. After dropping out of school in the spring of 2008, she started looking for an agency to represent her talents and trying out for work in television and film. Butler appeared on television in the show CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.She was cast in the film A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser as well as the 2008 Syfy TV film of horror Flu Bird Horror. The actress was a guest on that year on the web-based series Luke 11:17, which was directed by Don Stark. Butler is also a frequent guest in the show I Love Vampires. Butler was chosen to play the lead character on I Spit on Your Grave (a remake) in 2010, a revenge film and sexual assault thriller. She was at first dissuaded by the violence and nudity but the character development and feminist angle convinced her. Butler played Jennifer Hills, a writer who gets gang-raped in a wooded cabin. Her character seeks revenge on her attackers. Steven R. Monroe, the director of the film made it available on the 8th of October the 8th of October, 2010. In November 2011, Butler along with Estella Warren began filming the thriller based on psychological research The Stranger Within in Mallorca, Spain. The film was also scheduled to film in Copenhagen Denmark and New York City.She joined the cast of the feature film independent Treachery with Michael Biehn which began filming in Los Angeles in June 2012. Butler was in The Demented (2013), produced by Michael Welch with Kayla and Michael Welch.
